“Graphic design is the language that creates belief in an object, idea, or message.”
–Brockett Horne, professor and co-chair, MICA, Baltimore
This course is an introduction to the fundamental principles that shape the practice of graphic design.
In doing so, we consider the integration of language and image as the basis for visual communication.
The course aims to increase understanding of the ways in which designers work.
The projects aim to help new designers form critical perspectives around ideas and topics.
The two final projects in the course are collaborations with students from other disciplines as part of the school-wide
ARTIVISM PROJECT.
The purpose of these digital hallway bulletin boards is to share selections of project work while in progress during the semester.
All work shown on these boards will be revised and refined.
